EV Alliance

EV Alliance helps drive mass adoption of EVs by scaling best practices in transportation electrification. Focus areas include comprehensive EV action planning, consumer awareness, state and local policy, incentives, fleet adoption, smart charging, and Vehicle-Grid Integration. In partnership with governments, utilities, fleet operators, OEMs, and transportation agencies, we work to advance ambitious electrification and clean air goals.

Current Projects

E-Fleet Accelerator Project

Providing fleet transition assistance for major public and private fleets in six Central and Northern California counties. (Supported by the California Energy Commission (CEC), regional Air Quality Districts, and local government.)

California E-Bus-to-Grid Project

Developing smart charging and VGI revenue-generation strategies for the largest E-Bus deployment in North America – 80 BYD E-Buses at the Antelope Valley Transportation Authority in Los Angeles County. (Partners include the CEC-EPIC program, Energy Solutions, Olivine, TransDev, TAPTCO, Southern California Edison, and Lancaster Choice Energy.)

Ventura EV Blueprint
San Francisco CityCharge Project
(with Powertree and CEC)

Supporting deployment of shared EV charging stations linked to solar and energy storage at multi-unit residential developments in San Francisco. (Partners include Panasonic, Veritas Investments, DanLin Solar, and the CEC.

Port of Long Beach EV Blueprint

Providing innovative financing strategies to inform $700M+ EV infrastructure plan for world’s first Zero Emissions Port initiative. (Partners include Port of Long Beach, the National Renewable Energy Lab, Grant Farm, and CEC).

solutionLAB

Supporting launch of the solutionLAB – a national E-Bus Resource Center (led by Len Engel (former AVTA General Manager) with launch support from transit agency and industry partners, Prospect Silicon Valley, and the CEC.)

Developing EV planning blueprint for the County of Ventura, addressing EV policy, consumer engagement, infrastructure, and fleet electrification. (Partners include the Community Environmental Council, Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance, Ventura AQMD, and CEC.)

Recent Projects

California EV and Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Plans

Developed EV and AFV Plans encompassing 50+ cities and 8 Counties in California. These include San Francisco, the tri-County Monterey Bay region, the tri-County Central Coast region, and the City of Richmond. (Partners include Air Quality Management Districts, utilities, industry partners, local cities and counties, Metropolitan Planning Agencies, and the CEC.)

Kingdom of Jordan EV Plan

Provided EV policy and strategy for the Kingdom of Jordan National EV Action Plan (with ChargePoint, the Grant Farm, and the Royal Court of Jordan

California’s Regional PEV Coordinating Council Network

Developed concept and mobilized public-private stakeholder network to establish California’s statewide network of regional PEV Coordinating Councils. Councils are regional leads for coordinating EV-friendly policy, infrastructure planning, consumer engagement, and investment. Partners include utilities, EV Service Providers, auto OEMs, and local governments. (Supported by $5M+ in CEC funds.)

The Bay Area EV Corridor Project

Led deployment of 400+ public EV charging ports in the greater Bay Area region, including commercial, workplace, and multi-unit residential and the state’s first solar-powered and battery-backed DC Fast Chargers. (Partners included ABAG, ChargePoint, Clean Fuel Connection, and 15+ local governments and transportation agencies.)

Bay Area EV Strategic Council

Led development of the San Francisco Bay Area’s PEV Coordinating Council, with representation of the region’s key Mayors, utilities, regional public agencies, and EV industry leaders. The Council attracted $14M+ in local support for EV programs in the Bay Area. (Key partners include the Bay Area Climate Collaborative, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Association of Bay Area Governments, ChargePoint, Nissan, Tesla, KPCB, and PG&E.)

Ready, Set, Charge, California! Guidance for EV-Ready Communities

Developed California's first three major guidance documents for EV-Ready Communities, including Ready, Set, Charge! Guide to EV-Ready Communities, a follow-on Guide to DC Fast Charging and an EV White Paper for state and local policy makers: Accelerating California’s Electric Vehicle Transition: A Core Strategy to Enhance Our Economy and Environment. Provided follow-on technical assistance to 25+ cities to spur implementation of EV friendly policies. (Funding from the RFG Settlement Fund. Partners included ABAG, the Bay Area Climate Collaborative, and Clean Fuel Connection.)

The Bay Area EV Corridor Project

Conceived and resourced the nation’s largest EV Ride and Drive Campaign – providing over 5,000 EV test drives at leading Bay Area workplaces. Enabled 12% conversion of test drivers to EV buyers within six months. (Funded by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and deployed in partnership with the Bay Area Climate Collaborative, REACH Strategies, and the Center for Sustainable Energy, with eight auto OEM partners.)

eMotorWerks Smart Charging Deployment Plan

Developed California statewide smart charging deployment plan for eMotorWerks (now part of the Enel Group.)
